HUNTER BLUE

Line 2.png

Originally from Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, born of Indian heritage and raised Muslim, Hunter Blue saw early on how being yourself could be criminalized in a society with the law of illegalizing homosexuality in this Eastern African nation. Hunter began his fight for justice before he was ready, and he broke free to pursue his dream of being an artist.

He completed his education in London and pursued his passion for dancing, serving as a tutor and choreographer within the Asian dance industry. Even at an early age, Hunter had a knack for fusing together different styles and cultures, which you see today in his music, dance, fashion and art. His first single was ‘So Gay’ recorded in London by Niraj Chang. These two collaborators aspired to co-create a gay anthem.

This team created another five songs in London before Hunter relocated to Cape Town, South Africa where he finished his album with producers Howard Benjamin Bruckman and Ross Rowley. Hunter writes his own songs from personal experience which has been enhanced by being a global citizen and experiencing life in many cultures through the years. His album is named ‘The Red Story,’ which is one of many steps he has taken in his career to inspire others to believe in themselves as we are all beautiful and unique in our own way.

His music videos and art attempt to showcase the richness of diversity he wants to see fused together in our broader society as he continues to aspire for justice for all to have freedom to be their most authentic selves no matter where you live. - Musician - entertainer
